So I went to the Symbian Developer’s conference here in London the other day just to see what was happening, and ended up spending a while chatting to the folks from Sony Ericsson (SE), as well as playing with their new toy the P800. Very interesting! The more I learn, the more I’m convinced that these new Smartphones will eventually decimate the PDA market place and cause more than a small ripple in the computer world in general. The product is due out by the end of the year (SE says Q3, but my contacts say don’t expect anything until at least September if not later)…..

Update: Here’s a nice little article from Yahoo! featuring an interview with an SE executive talking about some of the cool features which may be coming down the pipe with this phone and its successors. Two interesting points – 1) ‘If you have a Bluetooth keyboard, you can enter all the data you want–there will be a whole range of peripherals to connect to this wirelessly’ and 2) ‘Some of our phones will be able to talk to the [Playstation 2] console, as well, and interact with the games.’ Freaky stuff!
