Sony Personal Field Speaker Headphones – big sound in a tiny package?

When you hear the word ‘headphones’, you probably think of over the ear cups. There are all sorts of makes and models out there with varying price, quality, and comfort levels. However, it normally comes down to brands that we trust (and some scouring on the internet) to help us in our decision making.

The Sony PFRV1 Personal Field Speaker Headphones are an odd contraption to look at, and will definitely be a new experience. The tubes for this go inside of your ear, and unless there is some sort of foam covering, I would imagine that is quite cold. The woofers sit about an inch outside of your ears, and are placed on an adjustable headband. While this is definitely useful and quirky, this means you won’t want to use these in public as you won’t want others to be forced to listen to what you’re listening to. These also aren’t probably well-suited for varying weather conditions, which means this almost $300 headphone set is better used indoors, and by yourself. Worth it? Probably not.
