Space Pollution – there’s a lot of junk floating around up there

When was the last time you looked up at the stars. Well if you live somewhere urban it might be hard with all the light pollution but soon even in less inhabited areas it might be a bit tricky with a growing amount of space junk being tossed into the air.

Once something goes into space, it’s pretty much there forever unless it’s planned to come down. Satellites are generally not planned to come back to terra firma. So they’re just floating around above the atmosphere, reflecting light and changing what we see in the night sky.

This isn’t to say that we don’t need satellites, they serve many purposes! But space pollution is real and although it’s not the dire threat of our problems with plastics and other trash down here, it still may prove to be a problem later. Until then, catch the stars while you can.
