Videophones are a favorite of mine. And when Speakal released a office phone/computer hybrid called the BTS8 at CES, let�s just say I geeked out a little bit. Speakal is best known for their iPig and Cool iPig iPhone and iPod docks, but this definitely tops them both. The BTS8 is a run-of-the-mill office phone with a 5� screen that runs Windows 7. This phone can double as a personal computer, and you’ll even be able to hook it up to an external monitor (the 5-inch one is probably a bit small for day-to-day use).

There is an on-board webcam so videoconferencing via Skype can now be done via your office phone. Windows 7 is already installed, and you can receive SMS messages, play music or movies, and surf the web when you�re not in the middle of a call.

This is not by any means going to replace your office computer, but it does make things mighty convenient. There�s going to be a very important issue of making sure your phone doesn�t get hacked that will likely be dealt with as we learn more about it, For now we�ll just say that it looks pretty neat. Prices and availability haven�t been announced yet, but keep an eye out for details.
