Stereopublic: The App that Helps You Unplug and Chill Out

Stereopublic Map

The world is a bright and noisy place. Especially if you live in an urban environment. Sure it makes ‘borrowing’ Wi-Fi super convenient, but it also makes it hard to sleep when your neighbors want to clean at 3 AM. But what if you knew where there were some peaceful places you could go in your city to chill out and recover?

Enter Stereopublic, the crowdsourced art project/mobile app that seeks to spread the silence. Stereopublic’s mission is simple. As you find new quiet places in your city, tag them so that others can enjoy them too. Quietly. Take a picture and attach a soothing song to help build a map of quiet space, which you can then share with fellow solipsists.

The site has an attached iPhone app whch allows you to update quiet spaces as you travel and find ones that other users have discovered before you. Sorry Droid users, no app for us but we can still register online. Getting away from it all, meditating and unplugging is perfect for people when life is starting to get to be too much. That’s not always easy in the middle of a metropolis, but Stereopublic is helping to make it easier.
