Stir Kinetic Desk – It moves to make you move

Stir Kinetic Desk

Office rats and cubicle-dwellers know that sitting down all the time isn’t healthy but there aren’t a whole lot of options when you’re chained to a desk eight hours a day. However, there are options when you have a desk with a brain.

There are desks that let you sit down, desks that let you stand up, and even desks that let you do both if you don’t mind interrupting your workflow to switch from sitting to standing mode. The Stir Kinetic Desk takes the work out of the picture. You don’t even have to remember to stand up every now and then because the desk will remind you.

Aside from the fact that you probably never pictured furniture telling you what to do, the Kinetic Desk is a pretty sweet deal. You set your standing and sitting height presets, along with your standing goals, using the built-in touchscreen, and basically let the desk handle things from there. When you’re ready to go from one position to the other, just give the touchscreen a double-tap to make the desk smoothly rise or lower.

You don’t have to worry about remembering when to switch because the Whisperbreath feature will gently move the desk up and down one inch to let you know it’s time to change position. Once you get the hang of it, you probably won’t have to even stop working during the change. Just go with the flow as stand up or sit down.

Of course, you’ve probably guessed that a desk that’s almost as smart as you will cost a little bit more than your average piece of office furniture, but there are some pretty expensive desks out there that do nothing but sit there and look pretty so this really isn’t that bad when compared to those fancy wooden behemoths. You can make the Stir Kinetic Desk a part of your office environment for $3,890.
