Stratospheric Aerosol Injection – a radical solution to climate change

There are many ideas for things we can do on the ground to help lesson the damage of climate change, many of which are already in development or being used today. That being said, there’s still room for radical solutions like dumping sulfate particles into the stratosphere, called stratospheric aerosol injection, to protect us from the sun. Science fiction sounding? Yes but it’s a real suggestion.

It’s part of a study in solar geoengineering, which is if you read science fiction is where we try to “fix” the planet with technology instead of just or in addition to changing our habits. It sounds cool but there are a host of concerns with it. Like how good of an idea is it to basically mimic volcanic blasts all over the planet.

Even if it does work, there are concerns with how it will work with some places getting the desired effects while others suffer as well as who is in control of this whole party. Still, a very interesting concept.
