SuperMeat – all of the same great flavor, none of the negative side effects

Meat is murder! And also super tasty. Still, if you have an ethical problem with eating animals but still can’t seem to help yourself, your days of struggle may be over. SuperMeat is a meat growing system that doesn’t involve growing any animals.

I watch a lot of movies, I read a lot of manga and I have to warn you all, in fiction, this never ends well but this is a process to grow cultured meat. So real live meat but without any actual real live animals. They take a tissue sample from the animal, in this case a chicken, duplicate the cells and let the tissues grow into actual meat. But without having been attached to an animal that can feel pain.

The goal is to use this process to help cut down on all the negative environmental factors that go into meat farming, be more humane, and help put a dent in world hunger by offering a sustainable and hopefully cheaper meat substitute. This is still very much in the planning process but it could really change the landscape of food if it works out.

    • I was pretty sure Soylent (that food substitute) was people. But they said they’re vegan. At least, that’s what they want us to believe. . .

  • Sounds like cloning… also sounds expensive.

    • I think that the initial product will be quite expensive. But there’s a chance that (if this takes off) the product will become less expensive as it’s embraced by more people.
