You probably never, ever think about palm oil but it’s in just about everything that we eat as well as many hygiene products. A wonder oil! Too bad that farming it is devastating to the environment which is why a movement for sustainable palm oil exists and you should support it.

Palm oil harvesting causes a lot deforestation and destruction of habitats. The sustainable industry movement has been going on for quite some time. It calls for no deforestation, local transport lines to reduce carbon and to actually check how much carbon they’re causing for starters.

We as consumers can help by researching whether or not the companies that make our favorite products are using sustainable sources. Only shop from companies that are if you can. Request that they make changes if they aren’t. Every little bit counts.
