Teamly – focus your to-do list on the important things in life

Teamly

Teamly is a new online service which aims to get your people focused on the important things in life. There’s a ton of to-do list type applications out there, but this is the first time I’ve seen one which tries to make you really focus on the five most important tasks you need to do in a period.

In line with the modern motto of ‘less is more’, there’s not a lot to this service on the face of it. A simple text entry box to add tasks, and a stats page to show how you’re doing against your goals. There are, however, a few inconsistencies. First the idea that you can have separate daily, weekly and monthly priorities seems a little counter intuitive. Surely a daily priority becomes part of the weekly one?

The Set Priority button also is a little confusing, because you expect it to deliver a ranking pop-up for the task or something, but instead it just adds the task.

Despite these niggles, this is an interesting little app, and I can see it becoming quite useful for project management and small teams. I’m not sure it’s a complete app rather than just an extended feature, but time will tell.

Ask yourself, “If I could only get 5 things done, what would they be?” This helps you focus on what’s really important and makes you think about what you must do, as opposed to what you could do if you had the time, and what you should definitely not do. As you cannot edit or delete a priority once set you should think about it carefully before committing and clicking “Set Priority”. After you’ve done that, set some priorities for this week or next week; keep in mind what your high-level goals are for the month, you might copy parts of those.

  • As part of Teamly I would just like to say thanks for your review. We launched our beta early to get as much feedback as possible like this from potential users.

We're developing lots of things in the coming weeks and months so please come back and keep using it. Also, if you're in charge of a team invite them to join you, that way you can start using the management features (more of these coming soon).
