How do you capture a feeling? Art does a really good job at it, we paint things that invoke feelings but how do we literally represent the feeling themselves? Random Quark used technology to create paintings of the way people were feeling in the Art of Feeling, a cool tech assisted art project.
Instead of recreating the events that inspired the feelings, the group used EEG headsets to record brainwaves. This information was then filtered through emotion recognition algorithms to pinpoint what they were feeling. Finally, this was giving to another algorithm which created the finally piece that represented the feelings of the original person.
The final pieces look like abstracts of flowers and water. They use a variety of color and no two are alike. This deceptively simple project blends art and technology to create something truly unique and beautiful. Check out the video on this project.
