If you are an author, it has to be somewhat infuriating to know that books are slowly but surely on their way out. I’m not talking about people writing stories down, I’m talking about wood-pulp paper and ink in a hard or paperback book. Settling down with an electronic tablet is not the same as sitting down with a book. This is exactly what bothered the small book store and publishing house Eterna Cadencia to the point where they’ve taken action.
They decided to print a literary collection of some new Latin American authors. That on its own doesn’t sound too interesting, but what they printed it with is the amazing part. The book is called El Libro Que No Puede Esperar (The book that can’t wait), and it has been printed in invisible ink. We’ve seen some creative uses for invisible ink in the past, but none so clever as this. Once the book is removed from its packaging, you will have to read it within the following two to four months, or you won’t be able to read it at all. The ink will be completely gone, and you would have nothing more than a sketchbook. This is a sneaky way to get you to read the book quickly, but the only sad part is that you won’t be able to read it again down the line. There doesn’t seem to be any word on the price of this book as far as I’ve found, but on its first day of release, it sold out completely, which means it will be hard to come by regardless.
