We talk about the climate crisis as if it is a future event but we’re already being affected by it all over the world. You’ve no doubt heard about the warm year we just had but it’s not just the heat. We’re already seeing food shortages, floods, and other issues.
One of the most famous events is likely the wildfires in Australia that came after intense drought which was caused by climate change. This isn’t the only example. Irregular weathers in the Horn of Africa has caused food scarcity to region. Those very high temperatures around the world have been at the root of a number of deaths.
The effects of climate change aren’t things that are going to happen tomorrow, they’re things that are taking place today. There are still many places that are not as heavily effected but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t act on it now.
