The Fossil Fuel of Tomorrow – new production will be just as dirty and should be stopped, today

Research confirms, making plans to deal with emissions is great and all but if we keep extracting fossil fuels, we’re not going to be able to meet emission goals. In order to reach the goals to keep the planet safe, one thing is clear, we’ve got to move away from fossil fuels but not everyone is on board.

There are still many, many plans for new fossil fuel based operations and currently no legislation to stop or slow them down. This is a gap in the policies that are being put forth. It allows for more corporations to lay the groundwork for systems that will just create more emissions tomorrow.

Stopping these projects before they start and focusing more renewable and sustainable energy sources instead would likely go a long way to improving overall carbon outcomes. Letting them continue, unfettered would, on the other hand, just deepen the hole we’re already in.
