The PCE Station – the ultimate vapour chair

Mypce

Four years after we first reported on the PCE (Personal Computing Environment) Station, it looks as though it’s still as far away from mass production as ever. Except now the project has a new owner called ParaFin. Wonder if they can sort out the $6000 price and make this a viable product for some time in the future?

PCE’s new environment has been called the “anti-cubicle.” It is a striking C-shaped design that extends one or more LCD monitors directly in front of the user. It puts users in the center of their computing, communications and entertainment devices. The innovative design is ergonomically engineered to reduce users susceptibility to repetitive stress injuries and musculoskeletal disorders, such as carpel tunnel syndrome.

  • It looks like a cool concept but I can’t see this thing coming to the mass market. I could just imagine a floor full of these things, office workers climbing into their work chair for a day of work…

  • That’s actually quite a scary vision… :-)
