The USB Smart Drive

USBSmartdrive

This puppy is being billed as the world’s first Smart USB Flash Drive, and quite frankly we can’t be bothered to argue. Anyhoo it features a ‘Bi-stable cholesteric digital display’ which doesn’t need battery power and a coolgroovyfunkywhiztastic pie chart icon to indicate disk space usage. All the usual USB 2.0 yada yada yada…and it’s priced from £27.99 for the 6KB version. Nah, just kidding.

The worlds first smart USB flash drive which is capable of showing personal ID and remaining capacity without the use of a battery, with the most unique technology – Bi-stable cholesteric liquid crystal display, showing up to 11 Character capacity, graphs and digits

  • Their displays should eat less fatty foods and exercise more.

  • add in a clock-like feature(changing text while not plugged in) and im impressed (could be used to detect WAPs), till then, just a gimmick.

  • Zecc, I got it, I got it. :-) Mike, that’s a pretty cool idea actually (re WAP).

  • Any idea what the battery life is?

I suppose that it is reasonably interesting, but I’d like to see a wifi detector built in too.
