The Wyzo Browser is the latest freeware offering from the guys who brought us the excellent FireTorrent Bittorrent plugin for Firefox. They’ve clearly decided to forego upgrading Firetorrent to work with the latest Firefox 3.x, and instead have brought out their own web browser based on Firefox which incorporates the Bittorrent feature as standard.
The product also offers a mega search engine start page and a handy small bookmarks bar to get to favourite sites faster, but overall I’m not sure they’ve made the right decision to dump the plugin. It’s not that the browser is bad, it’s just not different enough to offer any real advantage over the standard Firefox.
I’ll certainly keep it around for when I need to download a torrent, because it’s clean, simple and quick to use their tool (I find the standalone products like uTorrent et al still rather cumbersome, and FoxTorrent broke for me a while ago) but apart from that their browser will remain closed. I’m more likely to use Google Chrome as my surfing alternative. Still it’s worth a look if you’re a Torrent fan.
