This robot could beat you at chess if you’re a novice

Your chess playing skills are off the charts, but you have no one to play with because your family and friends believe chess is for nerds. Not to worry, ChessBot is more than willing to play a few rounds of chess any time of the day.

The good folks at DIYprojects created a robot by using four TowerPro SG90 motors, an Arduino Leonardo controller, and wood. Once done, the contraption is then connected to an Android smartphone via Bluetooth.

Now, from what we’ve gathered, the Android smartphone is capable of monitoring the position of the chess pieces on the board. Whenever movements are made, it gathers this information and sends it back to the manipulator arm to pick up and move a chess piece to the correct location.

ChessBot is pretty smart, but we doubt it can defeat a good player of the game since it’s not powered by advanced artificial intelligent tools.
