There are many disabilities that cause people to have some issues with communicating verbally. Autism can be one of these but also traumatic head injuries, stroke, and other disabilities can sometimes keep people from being able to speak with the people who care for them. TippyTalk is an app that wants to help people communicate.
TippyTalk turns pictures into readable text messages. The non-verbal or person who struggles with verbal communication can choose from a variety of pictures that represent needs, wants, and feelings, to their caretakers or partners.
There’s no distance requirement, the app sends the information to the caretaker’s phone or tablet, via text message letting them receive it anywhere. Caretakers can also record their voice reading the word so as the person chooses it, they are getting that extra reinforcement to encourage their own skills. TippyTalk is a free app for Android and iOS.
