Tritium Nuclear Powered Watch glows in the dark…seriously

Nuclear power has been under the spotlight recently, right? What with Japanese problems and the resulting public unease about the safety of this stuff. So what better way to address our fears than for some enterprising soul to come up with a product which will demonstrate once and for all that all our worries are groundless. Or your arm back.

This Tritium Nuclear Powered Watch features a pretty conventional specification apart from the fact that it is powered by tiny frickin’ lasers a gazillion radioactive hydrogen atoms. Apparently all this fission going on inches from your wrist is perfectly safe, because, like y’know 250 million atoms decaying every second is a walk in the park. And that glowing in the dark stuff? Perfectly normal.

We’re absolutely cool with it all, just as long as you’re the ones wearing the thing. And for you brave souls, the thing is water resistant (not Tsunami resistant, note) down to 100 meters, has a polycarbonate case and complies with all Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulations (because we all trust the NRC, don’t we boys and girls?). The price of all this ultimate macho is a twinkling $175.00, so enjoy.

  • this is not a nuclear powered watch. it merely has tritium vial illumination at the hour markers and on the hands. that's cool enough to not have to misrepresent the watch as being nuclear powered.
