Dropbox is one of the more popular consumer oriented cloud storage sites. It allows you to store important files online and synch them across your various devices. One of the many things that you can store on there are music files, and now there is a simple app that allows you to stream those files directly from Dropbox.
Tunebox is a $5 app for your iPhone that plays music tracks on your phone by streaming them directly from your Dropbox folder. The app was recently redesigned and optimized for iOS 7. It allows you to search by artist, title and song and will allow you to download from Dropbox if you have a need to grab the actual file.
The app also preloads the next song in a list to avoid a lag in between tracks while streaming, giving you that radio feel. It doesn’t have all the features of iTunes, but it also doesn’t require you to physically store music on your phone either, which can be a concern if you have a large collection.
