Uber is rolling out a new, lighter version it’s app for customers in India. Uber Lite is the slimmed down version of the app designed for low network connectivity or basic mobile devices. The new version of the app comes with features made for people who need to keep it simple.
The Lite version doesn’t bother with having you type in your position or destination. Instead it uses the GPS to locate you and direct you to a local pick up center. For drop offs, it gives you a map to choose from and the more you use it, the better it will get at knowing where you are and where you want to go.
Currently the new service will only be in the Indian market as well as a few others countries but if it goes well, the company plans to make it available to other places. The app is less than 5MB so most phones will have at least enough space to run that. If you happen to be in India, check out the link for more info.
