If you use Unroll.me and happen to live in Europe then bad news, the service is ending in your area. Bummer. They can’t meet compliance for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and rather than fix it, they’re just pulling the service, effective May 24.
The program is. . . questionable. It does work but it is also a data mining goldmine. It’s not handing out your personal information such as addresses but it certainly compiled demographic info so that your favorite corporations can sell to you better.
This may or may not be such an issue as the service was pretty limited in usefulness. It could only auto unenroll from certain services which meant it wasn’t the inbox panacea that we all wanted and how many times could you possibly need this service? It’s pretty once and done. But no matter, if you’re in the EU, then it’s no longer an option for you anyway. If you do use it, wrap up your business by the end of the month because it’s going bye bye.
