Use seltzer water to clean bird droppings from your clean car

It’s happened to all of us at some point or another. We park our car under a nice shady tree, only to come back a few hours later to find it covered in bird droppings. Some people might not mind this, as it may simply add some color to an otherwise ugly car (I’ve had a few of those). However, if you’re the type that keeps your car waxed and shiny, you might want to get that stuff off your hood as quickly as possible. Usually this would mean either a quick trip to the car wash, or heading home to do it yourself. As it turns our, there’s something you can carry in your trunk that will clear it off in moments.

Over at the Old Car Blog, they recommend using nothing more than a bottle of salt-free seltzer water. If you have a bottle of it in your trunk, just give it a good shake, then spray it on the droppings. The mixture of water and carbon dioxide will not only get rid of what the birds left behind, but it won’t do any damage to your paint.

  • Now that's what I call a cool tip. If it works, it's brilliant! :)

  • I've heard hydrogen peroxide works well too. Use it for bug splatter as well.
