If you’re one of those folks who’ve been bitten by the video bug, you’ll know all about the joys and frustrations of getting your work done. Apart from having to learn all the ropes, it’s also tricky putting together professional looking productions without having the money to spend on the nice little extras. One extra which is particularly valuable is the use of B-roll, or stock footage, which can really add something to your video.

Videvo is an online service which offers free stock footage and motion graphics for download, so you can use it in your projects as you need. Think of it as a stock photo site like Shutterstock or Fotolia, except for video. The site currently has over 1700 clips available for free download, ranging from nature to pro looking countdown animations.

We particularly like the user interface, which is clean and easy to navigate, which means it’s a cinch to dive in and find stuff which you can use really quickly. It’s clearly a new venture (a couple of years old), so although there’s a very useful forum, you’ll find that there’s not a huge amount of activity on there yet, but as with most things we suspect this site will really start to take off once people discover the cool stuff that’s available.

Most of the clips are at high resolution (1920×1080) in 16:9 format, and the clips average around the 20 seconds to 1 minute mark, so perfect for those little fillers you need now and then. If you’re in need of video, this is definitely the best place to start and we wish them well. Nice one!
