The hunt for the golden keyboard continues apace, particularly for those who can’t handle lugging around large portable QWERTY units. Fair enough, they do put a crease in the suit pocket. We’ve seen laser keyboards before of course, but it looks as though there’s a new generation out on the streets, with better legibility and which may actually work as advertised.
The Virtual Keyboard (snappy name) features a full keyboard layout, which is projected onto a desk or other flat surface using ‘advanced laser optics’. So basically a beam of light, right? The thing is USB rechargeable and lasts for up to 2 hours per charge, and because it’s wireless Bluetooth there’s no hassle with cables across the desk either.
It will apparently work with any smartphone, tablet or even a laptop (huh?), but we will note that if you watch the demo videos the user is clearly one of those hunt and peck typists. Seasoned high speed Ninja typists like we superior beings will probably die a death trying to type accurately at anywhere near normal speeds on this puppy. But we stand ready to be proven wrong. Priced at $99.99.
