Voice Authenticating USB Drive protects your data with a single word

Voiceactivatedusbdrive

The world of biometric security is booming, and everywhere you look there are fingerprint readers, eye scanners and palm print machines. But the one sector which seems to have been overlooked is that of sound, or more specifically voice. Could it be possible to build something that will secure data through the sound of a voice?

Apparently the answer is yes. This Voice Authenticating USB Drive secures the data on the drive with a single spoken password. Speak to lock, speak again to unlock. It can store 8 GB of information and incorporates what the maker’s call ‘sophisticated voice recognition’, to scramble and unscramble the data on command. We’re relieved to hear that there is an alternative method of access should your voice become unavailable through tonsillitis or any other problem which stops you speaking.

If we had one of these, our password would be supercalafragalisticexpialidocious. Priced at $49.95.

  • This is a really interesting idea but I think that a fingerprint scanner would be a better idea for this than voice recognition. It would be far more discreet and you wouldn't end up looking like you were talking to yourself.
