Let’s face it. We waste a lot of water. Whether it’s waiting for it to heat up so we can wash dishes or at showertime, that’s an average of 3 to 6 liters (.79 to over 1.5 gallons) just for a daily shower! With drought a serious problem across the globe, the Spanish company esferic’s WaterDrop is a simple solution.

Funded through Kickstarter last year, the WaterDrop – a tote bag with its own reinforced handle – is made of recyclable thermoplastic polyurethane. To use it, simply hold it under the showerhead (or faucet) and let the water run until it’s warm. Then shower or wash what’s waiting.

The company says by using the WaterDrop – which holds up to 3.5 gallons of water – consumers can save more than 220 gallons (1,000 liters) of water a year. The accompanying app lets you know how much water you’re saving every day. And the collected water can be used to water the garden, houseplants, flush the toilet or even for washing your pet.

Of course you could simply put a big bucket in the shower and collect it that way. But the WaterDrop is cooler looking and probably easier to carry. And it’s due to start shipping this month. Priced affordably, it looks like a real winner.
