Waterskiing Chair – do you sit or stand?

Now here is something interesting that might have you confuse your verbs – the Waterskiing Chair. Now we all know that when one skis on the water, you normally stand, but do you sit with this puppy? The older, more experienced folks out there might just look the other way since it was introduced nearly half a century ago, but for those who are starting to learn how to ski, the Waterskiing Chair would provide an invaluable beginner’s experience. At $799.95, it isn’t cheap, but it gets the job done.

This is the patented chair that is mounted to a pair of waterskis, allowing beginners and experts alike to ski from a stable seated position. Introduced almost 50 years ago, the chair consists of a backless seat connected to broad, widely-spaced skis by a pivoting steering mechanism. Leaning to one side in the chair automatically causes the skis to carve the water in the same direction. The chair only requires riders to hold a tow rope and maintains its balance even when crossing a boat’s wake. Experienced skiers will find the chair maneuverable enough to perform many of the same tricks they attempt when standing. The vinyl-covered chair is padded with 2″ of closed-cell foam that absorbs the jolts encountered when riding waves. Tubular stainless steel frame and hardware and wood/laminate skis ensure years of use. Made in the U.S. Assembly required. 71″ L x 31″ W x 13″ H. (28 lbs.)
