A recent Scientific American article offers an interesting tidbit on the money behind the climate change denial machine. Surprisingly, according to Greenpeace, it’s currently not fronted by the obvious oil company candidates, but instead it’s mostly down to Koch Industries, a ‘sprawling private corporation’, run by two brothers out of Kansas in the US, which owns refineries, oil pipelines, fertilizer facilities etc etc etc. Surprised?
The group calls Koch the “financial kingpin of climate science denial,” saying the brothers, Charles and David Koch, who jointly own 84 percent of the company, have replaced Exxon Mobil Corp. as the leader in stirring controversy around climate conclusions…Greenpeace portrays the company’s efforts as a secret campaign to keep climate doubts pinging around an “echo chamber” that includes groups like the Cato Institute, the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute.
A hundred years from now when the world economies MAY be able to run on something other than oil, Mr. Koch will be dead, having provided a decent life for millions who rely on oil. Me included. My Tacoma truck has a real problem getting up speed on wind power.
Proof or it's just talk.
