Would you use a practice guitar that fits in your pocket?

Learning a new instrument is always difficult. Guitar is an especially challenging instrument as you not only have six strings, but hundreds of positions and fingering combinations with different strumming patterns to remember. In efforts to help out beginning, or even more advanced musicians, the PocketStrings device was created, to help you with your fingerings by utilizing muscle memory.

This thing is about the size of a remote control, and has a tiny four fret board on which you can practice chords and riffs. Any musician who plays a stringed instrument knows that practicing a song without the actual instrument on hand does happen from time to time. Usually using your forearm for reference can help, but this little thing would be rather handy to have, and would definitely make you look a little less insane. However, since you can’t actually strum and hear the notes, I’m not sure how useful this $30 device will be. [Via Gizmag]
