We love robots. Who doesn’t? As long as they’re not tearing up the city we’re all for them. Especially when they’re cute and cuddly, and have enough smarts to play games with us. We’re actually looking forward to the day when we can have real looking robot dinosaurs roaming the hallways, it’s going to be fun. We think. In the meantime, the new smart toys will have to do instead.
Like this new MiPosaur from robot toy maker WowWee. This toy, due out in the summer, if chock full of sensors which can detect gestures, keep it balanced, and help it interact with its surroundings. It can even express moods depending on how it’s treated. It’s not ‘aware’ yet, but it can certainly do a lot more than your average GI Joe.
We had a chance to play around with one at a toy fair this week, and came away impressed at how fast this technology is moving. At the end of the day what we’re seeing is a gradual move to try and bring video game experiences to the floor of the living room rather than on-screen, and it’s fascinating to watch.
Check out our video below to see what we mean. The toy will be available for $119 / £99 in the 2nd quarter of this year.
