X-Mouse Button Control – suddenly your mouse is more powerful than a speeding bullet [Freeware]

There are two types of people in this life. Those that are happy with the base functionality of their computer mouse, and those that need more control, more power, more everything from those few buttons and wheel. If you’re the former, move on, but for the freaks among us, here’s a chance to give your mouse more super powers than your head can probably handle.

X-Mouse Button Control is a free program which gives you so much control over the functions of those five buttons that you’ll need to rest for a week afterwards. Yes that much. Of course it will do all the usual stuff, like let you swap over left and right buttons, and set clever scroll controls, but it goes way way beyond all that.

For one thing you get five layers to play with, which means you can map your mouse buttons for completely different applications and swap with the flick of a hotkey. Great for if you’re using your mouse in complex applications such as AutoCad or Illustrator, or even if you’re playing games and stuff. You can lock windows in place, send simulated key presses on command and control applications including your media player as you feel you need.

This fine grained control over things like Windows and application actions means you can set this thing up to do exactly what you want any time, and even run specific profiles automatically when you switch applications. It’s a power user’s absolutely joy. You’ll need to spend a bit of time with the user manual to get the best out of it, but once set, you’ll be able to export and import your favorite config to carry it around from computer to computer.

So if you’re getting a bit fed up with scroll scroll, click and scroll, we recommend you take a serious looks at this puppy and blow your productivity out of the water. You can thank us later.
