For those who love snazzy sports cars but need more space or options, Xelestine has come up with a really cool concept. It’s transformable sportscar, intended for a front-engine vehicle, can transform from a hatchback to a family-style wagon to a pick-up, all through the use of its rear window.

Two side triangular panels retract into the C-pillars in the fastback mode to create a sportscar form with improved aerodynamics for better fuel economy. The panels can be raised to provide extra rear luggage space or, if you need more room, the rear window folds forward to create an open-top, rear cargo area similar to a pickup truck.

Although Xelestine has filed an international patent for its designs, unfortunately it isn’t looking to produce the car, at least not on its own. The company’s working to attract manufacturers who would be interested in developing the concept. Too bad as there would definitely be a large waiting list for this kind of car if someone decided to build it. Wonder if an online petition would help get things going?
