Yapper Zapper jams cell phone signals in a 4 meter radius

How many times have you been sitting in a theater enjoying a movie, only to have someone’s cell phone ring? What’s even worse is if they decide to answer the call, thus further disrupting your moviegoing experience. Wouldn’t it be great if you could ensure that no one’s cell phone could possibly go off? Well you can, with the Yapper Zapper.

This small device fits in your pocket and creates an 8 meter quiet zone where cell phone signals won’t get through. You’ll get about two hours of blocking on a single charge, which should get you most of the way through your movie. The $109 price tag might seem steep for a quiet movie, however, if you’re in the US, you can add up to $11,000 onto the price, due to the illegal nature of the device. In fact, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a place that allows the use of such technology, though many countries only have laws against using them, not owning them.

  • This is a great way to get a $250,000 fine and jailtime in the US. The FCC does not mess around when it comes to using airwaves.
And from a non-legal standpoint this is a great way to get someone killed when the doctor in the audience doesn't receive the emergency call on his phone that is set to vibrate.

    • first of all the jammer is impossible to trace. second, people call 911 in an emergency, not their doctor …….

    • I'm pretty sure he was referring to on-call surgeons and alike. This only seems like a good idea for 2 seconds until you start really thinking of the repercussions.

  • what daniel said!

  • Hmmmm, seems this world did pretty well – even better – BEFORE cell phones. Because people addicted to their cell phones usually ignore etiquette when using them, I think a Yapper Zapper would be a lovely addition to my purse.

  • Thanks for the awesome post! Now just check this out.. Just thought I’d let you in on a secret! Believe me when I talk to you that these folks know what they are talking about!!

  • Love to use this at the Occupy Movement when the police start cracking down on the hippies. Let them try to Youtube it then!!!

  • I ordered a Yapper Zapper on 28Oct2011, the charge was posted on my credit card on 31Oct2011. So far no shippment of the purchase. When I try to contact the company on their "Contact US" link, I get no response on when the item will ship. When I email the person from the company listed on the electronic receipt I get no answer to numerous trys. Has anybody out there actually seen or tested this product? It looks more and more like an internet scam. As of today, their internet site has also disappeared.

  • Where can I get one?
