YouTube prepares to lift video limit restrictions

If you’re an amateur video producer, you’ve no doubt ran into issues with YouTube‘s video length limit. Thankfully the company recently raised the cap from 10 minutes to 15, but even that isn’t enough for some people. Well now it looks like the limit may be removed completely in the near future.

According to product manager Joshua Siegel, the company has been working on their Content ID software, which scans videos for copyright violations. The advancements they have made allow them to scan up to 100 years worth of video per day, and thus gives them the confidence that they can keep copyright violations to a minimum.

We’re not sure when the limits will be lifted, but we do know that it will only be available to those people who haven’t violated copyrights in the past. Otherwise they might think you to be a higher risk of infringing again.

  • I went to Youtube this AM and a banner told me I could now upload >15 min videos. Personally, I think that Youtube is best for sub one minute stuff.
