Zikk – brilliant way to help your friends and family with their Android problems [Freeware]

Look we all have friends and family who are less than technically capable, right? You know the deal, the favorite uncle who comes up to you at every family gathering to beg for help with his tech gear. Say no and risk a family rift, say yes and leave yourself open for a lost Saturday when you could be having fun. Well now there’s a brilliant way to keep the family peace and still enjoy your leisure time.

Zikk is a free Android app which lets you perform all sorts of useful remote support tasks direct from your phone to good old Uncle Albert. Both phones need to have the app installed, although you can send an SMS to the dear uncle with a link to download and install the app on the spot if it’s necessary.

Once that’s done, the process is dead simple. Just send an offer to help to uncle’s handset by clicking the button, and once they accept you get to work using your phone. See the video below.

You can download apps, fiddle with WiFi settings, modify sounds and display settings, set wallpapers etc etc. Once you’re done, click the Apply button and they can approve the changes. Job done, back to your Doritos and the game.

It’s the kind of app which makes you glad to be alive, and for once you won’t have to spend your time avoiding Aunt Sarah at the next family celebration because you failed to turn up to fix her phone’s ring tone. The app is for phones only at the moment, although the developer is promising tablet support very soon. Total bliss.
