Hero Waterproof Digital Wrist Camera – happy snapper

The Hero Waterproof Digital Wrist Camera. With 32MB of memory offering 360 photos we instantly realise that this is no way a high resolution camera, but hey any kind of image at 30 feet down must be interesting right? For some reason it also includes a self-timer. Hmm…not quite sure how that’s supposed to work down in the deeps. $79.95.  Shockproof and waterproof # Can be used up to 30 feet deep # Polycarbonate water housing protects the camera # Pivoting neoprene strap allows for on-the-fly photos…

iHome Water-Resistant Media Player Case – splish splash friendly

The iHome iH19 Water-Resistant Media Player Case.  Ferret reader Davin Peterson tells me off for always mentioning the iPod at the expense of other good alternative media players out there like the Creative Zen V Plus, and I’ve got to agree that the iPod is certainly not the only game in town, just the best marketed. Anyhoo, here’s a product which will hold them all, so no complaints on that score, eh? £59.99 from all good swimwear outlets (just kidding).  Take your…

Annoy-a-Tron – drive your colleagues crazy, why doncha?

The Think Geek Annoy-a-Tron is a toy designed specifically to get you beaten to a pulp. Just activate it, hide it in the room of the person you want to annoy and watch with childish glee as they search with increasing desperation for the source of the annoyingly short and random sounding beeps. $9.99.  The Annoy-a-tron generates a short (but very annoying, hence the name) beep every few minutes. Your unsuspecting target will have a hard time ‘timing’ the location of…

Mobile Phone Telescope Lens – zoom vroom boom

The Mobile Phone Telescope Lens adds a 6 x zoom lens to your humble phonecam handset which is pretty amazing. Apparently these new lenses offer much improved image quality too (check the example on the site), which makes it doubly interesting as higher resolution camera phones come on to the market. Sell those point and shoot camera company shares now. $19.00 and available for a number of different handset brands.

Hottie Amplifiers – crisp sound for your guitar

The Hottie Guitar Amplifier. There is clearly a reason why you’d want your guitar amp to be built inside a standard twin rack bread toaster, but we’ve yet to work it out. Maybe it’s something to do with a lack of Vitamin A in the average musician’s diet. Whatever the reason here you go. Just hand over your $149.00 and you too can create great pop. (arf!)  Whenever possible we keep the crumb trays attached to the bottom of the…

Digital Darts – all bits and plastic tips

The Digital Darts Game brings the ancient game up to date with an LCD scoreboard, a handicap button, sound and multiple game types in the one device. The lovely thing about the Korean sales site is that they’ve gone the whole hog and included in-depth instructions on how to play the game, including suitable derisory comments about your opponents failings (‘my grandma can do better’). Lovely marketing. $107.00 in Korean folding.

The Clapper Plus – clap on gets a makeover

The Clapper Plus. The original Clapper was one of the most parodied gadgets ever to hit the shelves, it seems, always being ridiculed on comedy sketches and even movies. Now it has been updated with a remote control and a Home and Away mode. In the latter the appliance is switched on by ‘any’ noise, not just a loud clap. Jolly D. $24.95.  The Clapper Plus combines the same Clapper sound sensory technology with a handy remote control to give…

PictureBook Pocket Photo Frame – your family in your pants

The PocketBook Pocket Digital Photo Frame lets you carry your loved ones around in your pocket. Of course you may think that this $200.00 device is something that you can do without, since you already have a mobile phone, a digital camera and a laptop computer which can all do similar service. But you have to realise that buying stuff like this keeps the economic wheels of the world running, and stops aliens from Alpha Centauri slaughtering us without pity to steal our Christmas…

RoadBox – vehicle accident camera

The RoadBox is a vehicle accident camera system which incorporates a speed and acceleration monitor to give you some all round information about the circumstances leading up to the crash. 14 seconds before and 6 seconds after, actually. It’s only 8 frames a second and VGA quality, so don’t go expecting any George Lucas footage, but it might help out some. The main problem of course is that accidents happen in all sorts of directions, not just facing forward.  It…

Suntimer – the sun alarm watch

The Minox Suntimer UV Alarm Watch. This puppy provides a little bit more intelligence than your average UV monitor, since it calculates your optimum UV exposure based on a number of factors which you enter, such as skin type and the sunscreen you’re using. This is clearly a product for those who spend long hours in the sun. Hmm…perhaps we ought to think about getting out a bit more? €49.00.  With its special sensors it measures the amount of ultraviolet…
