Cassette to Digital Converter – save ALL the mix tapes

If you are of a certain age, there’s a good chance you have some old cassette tapes kicking around that have a good deal of sentimental value. Aibo – remember that robot dog from the 90s? It’s back!

I remember when Sony put out its first electronic dog. There was a live demo in Epcot where I was vacationing after graduating from high school. They were small, but really kind of neat. Now there are people holding funerals for theirs because life is strange and tech doesn’t last forever. They stopped making them in 2006 but if you loved these robo dogs, good news! Sony is bringing the Aibo back to life!

Retro gaming is gaining in popularity. Maybe it’s just nostalgia, maybe it’s the simplicity of the games themselves, I don’t know. Whatever it is though, it’s making a comeback. The RetroEngine Sigma hopes to hop onto that trend and bonus, it will also act as a living room computer for you.

Goofy Foot – the classic Nintendo controller for left handed players

Left handed people get no respect. This is such a right hand dominate world. I mean, I’ve never even considered the fact that game controllers are set up to favor my right-handedness. The Goofy Foot, the classic NES controller built for people who use their left, has opened my eyes.

Art of ATARI – all your favorite classic game covers in one place

So, in 2016, the art on our game boxes is generally just grabbed from the game. There’s no real difference between what we see on the package and what we interact with on the disc (and if there is, that’s generally a problem). That wasn’t always the case, back in the day you had to imagine what the characters looked like, based on the box. Art of ATARI is the book that collects all that iconic art into one place.

NES Paul – the original system can play again, music that is

Do you ever wonder what happened to all those original NES systems that we loved as kids? Are they floating around landfills? Still in your mom’s basement somewhere (that’s where mine is) or did they find new life through crafting? We can safely say that some of them are being used to today as the bodies for the NES Paul, the guitar with a gray box body.

Museum of Endangered Sounds – the technology is outdated but the sound lives on

The world of technology has changed quickly over the past few decades. Services and devices that we once couldn’t live without are now embarrassing relics of the past, collecting dust in landfills or gone completely from the internet landscape. One of the things we’re losing is the sounds. The Museum of Endangered Sounds is cataloging the technology based tones and sounds that are disappearing from the world.

Light Up Arcade Belt Buckle – hold up your pants with a piece of the 80s

If you’re of a certain age then you remember a time when the only way you could get your game on was if you had at least one piece of silver. Well, at least silver colored. Back in the time of arcades, a quarter was your ticket to the world of video game wonder. Now you can be reminded of those simpler times with the Light Up Arcade Belt Buckle.
