Why Not? – the ideas exchange

Why Not? Billed as an online ideas exchange where people can post ideas and others can comment and vote. Unfortunately the devs seem to have copied a lot of the design element of Halfbakery which has been around for ever, which is a shame.

These idea factory sites would be a lot better if they a) developed the service more so as to try and actually drive production or adoption of great ideas via factories, incubators or venture capitalists and b) had some sort of stronger community ties so that people who believed passionately in an idea could either contribute financially (a la the new music biz model such as slicethepie) or get hands dirty involved to drive projects along using contacts and expertise.

At the moment all they seem to do is offer a pretty limited forum for people to snark or agree, which is a million miles away from being really useful. The closest I’ve seen to something useful along these lines was Cambrian House, which was a little too complex and limited in scope to make me super excited. Ah well…
