MediaPlayer XS – Not your average media centre

Image

The MediaPlayer XS is a compact, no nonsense media centre capable of displaying movies, music and photos straight from a USB drive via a television with no computer required. Smaller than a paperback novel this media powerhouse can play pretty much anything including; avi (Xvid and DivX), dat, mpg (1, 2 and 4), m-jpeg, mp3, wma, wav, jpg, tif, gif and bmp. It even has a built-in photo slideshow to turn your telly into a digital picture frame. It reads FAT32 or NTFS hard drives, has a USB2.0 interface and its firmware is upgradeable so who knows what it will do in the future. Just don’t expect HDTV out of this thing, it’s strictly analogue.

Everything you need comes with it so connecting it is simple. Stick your USB drive (flash drive or portable hard drive) into the front, plug the RCA or SCART bits into your telly (which must be able to receive PAL). Hook up the power adaptor and the remote control receiver and drive the XS from the couch with the included remote. How much you say? All this happiness can be yours for just €89.

Simply connect your USB hard drive (no matter which brand!) to the MediaPlayer XS, connect the MediaPlayer XS to your TV, and you’re ready to watch movies directly from your hard drive, without the use of a PC, in the comfort of your own living room! The remote-controlled MediaPlayer XS supports all common AV file formats, is conveniently small and very cost effective !! The perfect upgrade for your USB hard drive. Of course the concept also works with other USB devices such as a USB stick.

This is brilliant! I have a PS3 that I use to play movies from an external drive, but it won’t play anything from an NTFS disk. This device could get me to replace my PS3, since I have a 360 and a Wii for games already.
