There’s no need to go the whole hog and spend lots of money to get a “smart home”, all you really need is a pair of these Wireless Remote Controlled Power Outlets. Simply plug in your floor lamp, fish tank light, heater, fridge or disco ball and your can control it via the remote control. The pack comes with two remote controlled outlets and the remote control itself which works up to 25 meters (80 feet) away. It uses 433MHz so it should be interference-free and it can control any number of outlets spread over 4 channels, all with the one remote. $US39.95 and looks like it only comes in US outlets but there’s always adaptors.

This unit comes with one remote control and two remote outlets, however, an unlimited number of remote outlets may operate from one remote control.
