Map Maker is a cute little online app which lets you create and annotate your very own Google maps which you can then save and share as you want. I like the simplicity of the interface and the output options in particular.
There are bound to be lots of individuals and organisations who would love to embed a map with relevant information into their site, and this tool is perfect for that. You can output to Javascript or an iFrame which should be enough for most purposes. Maybe a ready made widget would be nice, but that’s being picky.
First up Register yourself so you can save your maps and link back to them later. Once maps are saved you can add more markers, edit the old ones and customise your map – no more starting from scratch. Setting the Latitude and Longitude Simple way – Click on the map where you would like your marker to appear. Complicated – input your own coordinates into the text fields. Adding HTML to the popups You can put whatever HTML you like inside a popup. It is just a div after all. Obviously this is at your own risk as duff HTML will probably break your map too.
