The Awesome Highlighter – a free and very cool website annotator

The Awesome Highlighter is a quick and easy website annotator which lets you add coloured highlights and notes to any site on the Net. Just enter in the URL, and add your annotations via the simple menu.

It’s actually much more than just a highlighter. You can also set up an account to store your notes and highlights, and also search via tags, date and domains and you can even highlight things like videos and images.

The latter takes it into a whole new realm really, where it becomes a sort of online scrapbook of interesting stuff you’ve found. I can see this application being useful for web designers and their clients to share progress notes, as well as business managers who want to distribute notes on competitive or company products and services. Great idea and very nicely done. Definitely one for the bookmarks.

The Awesome Highlighter makes it easy to show your friends, co-workers, or the annoying person on the message board the important parts of any web page. By highlighting text, you help the reader focus on what you want them to see.
