Notify dot me – your online web butler

Notifydotme is a new online service which tracks sites and services you are interested in, and delivers updates to your mobile phone, IM, email inbox or a dedicated desktop app. So for instance, you can set up a tracker for your Facebook or Flickr accounts, as well as various sites you enjoy reading. Think of it as a glorified RSS reader on steroids.

The cool thing is the ability to deliver updates to your mobile phone, as this gives you a fast and simple way to track things like online auctions, blogs, classifieds etc for new products and services you need. Set up a tracker to check for apartment shares on Craigslist and you’ll be kept bang up to date on new opportunities. Jobs also of course. Set up is simple, so you can be up and running in minutes.

Nice as it is, the track record for this kind of service is spotty at best. Online secretarial services like Sandy have failed to grab traction and the site monitoring services have struggled to move out of tech support territory. Nevertheless I wish this app well, as it’s nicely done and has a valuable feature set to offer those in need. delivers notifications that interest you in near real time. It eliminates the need for you to constantly check on classified listings, blogs or social networking sites. Notifications are pushed to your destinations of choice such as instant messenger, mobile phone, email, desktop or web application.
