Quisple – free media player (apparently) delivers instant music from the web

Quisple is a quirky little freeware program which gives you a tiny desktop media player to grab music from the web (i.e. YouTube) as you want it. There’s no interface to speak of, just a search box and a play button. Enter in artist name and track and the software runs off to find the track to play it for you instantly.

I’d like to be a little more enthusiastic, but unfortunately my version didn’t play at all, which makes it a little difficult to comment on quality etc. Your mileage however may vary. I’m also not a huge fan of the fact that you’ve got to register in order to download the software, I always feel that kind of thing is a bit of an imposition.

Quisple does not try to steal youtube’s popularity, Quisple is just a shortcut. Every song you play with Quisple is linked back to its original on youtube. Sometimes you just want to watch the clip, or to see what others commented on it, so here goes the link. Quisple will stop the playback and open the original in your favorite web browser.
