Veebeam HD – from computer to HD television with no wires

VeebeamHD

This Veebeam HD device offers the same kind of cool wireless computer to television video streaming as the QWaves product we wrote about a while back. Unfortunately QWaves wireless USB proved to be less than valuable in real life, suffering from the unstoppable stutters when streaming even modestly high resolution video over USB.

I still think the tech is excellent, but let’s hope this product – which I’m assured doesn’t use the same DisplayLink wireless USB tech as the errant QWaves –  actually works as advertised. To operate, plug the receiver unit into the TV with an HDMI cable, slot the dongle into your laptop USB port, sync the two and presto, wireless streaming from your PC to the massive flat screen in the corner of the room. Hopefully.

I would love to be able to report in more depth, but unfortunately all the email connections to the company appear to be severed, which is not a good sign really. Anyway, priced at £139.00 and shipping from next month.

To accomplish that magic and create a better viewing experience at a reasonable price, we used some pretty advanced technology called Wireless USB. Wireless USB creates a secure point-to-point connection between your laptop and your TV. WUSB is more powerful than traditional WiFi because it offers more bandwidth, better security and less interference over short distances. To maintain a high-speed WUSB connection, the TV and laptop need to be in the same room.
