Mielophone – cool new open source music sharing program covers it all

Mielophone

Mielophone is a new freeware music sharing program which really does cover it all. The open source software (the source code is here) is based on the Adobe Air platform, and lets you stream and download tracks, watch videos, and listen to a radio playlist of artists similar to your search criteria.

The Russian developers are claiming it to be a ‘Napster like application’, and it does have a very complete feature list.  However it isn’t as effective as the late Mulve.com software at finding music, although the interface is solid and the links to external services like YouTube work well. Definitely one to watch, and worth a download. Works with Mac, Windows and Linux.

Napster like application for free music search and streaming. Build using Adobe AIR and Flex frameworks. It’s free and opensource. Please note: by downloading the track – you can break the copyright of the track!
