Apparently every year around this time there’s a deluge of reports of nativity scenes which have been vandalised in towns and cities all over the USA. This year, security company BrickHouse is again doing their civic duty – along with a smart bit of marketing – by supplying free GPS trackers to ‘churches and communities’ across the nation to help prevent theft and vandalism of these symbolic scenes.
Quite why so many manger scenes are disrupted in this way is a mystery, but hopefully the trend will soon start to decline, as the new generation of GPS trackers now come with motion sensing which will send an alert to a phone immediately a little baby, King or lamb is moved from their spot in the tableau. Sometimes technology does things you could never imagine, right?
I particularly love this quote…“There’s been no attempt of theft since we announced that we’re tracking our Jesus,” says Alan Czyewski of St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge, N.J. Good to know eh Alan?
The eligible participants of the program will receive a Spark Nano GPS tracker along with remote access log-ins, and some even covert surveillance equipment. The GPS tracker is the latest device to feature motion-activated tracking, instantly sending alert notifications to participants via text messages and emails to their cell phones and computers.
