Last.fm to begin charging mobile users

last.fm Last.fm to begin charging mobile users

If you’ve enjoyed streaming music to your mobile device via Last.fm, you might be surprised to find that you won’t be able to continue this in the future. At least not without paying a premium. That’s right, the company has announced that mobile users in the US, UK and Germany (who up until now were not charged) will be forced to pay a monthly fee if they want to continue streaming music.

To those not living in the countries listed above, this may not come as a surprise at all. Last.fm charges a $3 monthly fee in all other locations already. What we don’t know is whether they will be charging the same $3 a month, or if they have a different amount in mind. What we do know is that curiously, Windows Phone 7 devices will still be able to stream for free.
